Hourglass body shape looks beautiful, but the bigger tummy does not. It not only affects your looks but also makes your confidence go low. However, if you dress sensibly, the bigger tummy can be hidden.
You can use V-necklines, high-waisted bottoms, loose wraps, and peplum tops to hide your bigger tummy if you have an hourglass figure or body shape. Don’t ever wear tight jeans, or tops as they would make your tummy more prominent.
In this guide, I will simplify fashion into easy, actionable steps for those with an hourglass figure and a bit more around the middle. Without any delay, let’s dive into the 7 effective ways to hide your tummy and look charming with an hourglass shape.

Ways to Dress Hourglass Figure With a Big Tummy
The hourglass figure attracts others, especially men. But if you have a big tummy, it can easily destroy your looks, and make you feel depressed. But, you just don’t need to be worried – every problem has a solution.
In the section below, I am going to discuss some of the effective ways to dress and hide the big tummy. Let’s get started!
In my previous article, I wrote on how you can dress yourself if you have a big tummy but a small busts, check that too if you are interested!
1- Wear V-necklines
No matter if you have a big tummy, or you are chubby, the V-necklines work wonders for those with hourglass figures and small chests. They draw the eye vertically, creating the illusion of a longer, leaner torso.
One thing that I love about the V-necklines is that they ensure that the others’ attention goes to the top of your body. In this way, no one notices your bigger tummy, and it gets ignored or overlooked. V-necks are also great for layering with statement necklaces or scarves for an added touch of style.
2- Embrace High-Waisted Bottoms
High-waisted pants and skirts are your best friends. Why? They sit nicely at the smallest part of your waist, emphasizing the beautiful curve of your hips.
What I love the most about the high-waisted bottoms is that they make your hourglass body shape more prominent. In this way, you get others’ attention, but they smoothe the midsection (tummy area) and make it less noticeable.
It is interesting that the high-waisted bottoms are suitable for women of almost every height. No matter if you’re tall or short, these bottoms will make your upper area more prominent and hide your bigger tummy.
3- Wrap Dresses
Wrap dresses are magical for hourglass figures. They cinch at the waist, accentuating your natural curves while the fabric gracefully drapes over your tummy, camouflaging it effortlessly.
In fact, these wrap dresses work well even if you don’t have a complete hourglass body shape. These wraps of tops that remain on the midsection (tummy area) hide all the extra fat of the tummy, and ensure that you’ll remain confident when attending any event such as concerts.
4- Opt for Peplum Tops
The wrap and peplum tops are wonderfully effective for hourglass figures. Both hide the tummy through the wraps of the tops. The Peplum tops flare out slightly just below the waist and offer an excellent way to balance your proportions and conceal a larger tummy.
Keep in mind that the peplum style adds a bit of flair and femininity to your outfit while keeping the focus on your waist. The bigger tummy won’t remain prominent and no one will notice it at all. I personally prefer the wrap tops over peplum as they give you a more professional look.
5- Avoid Extra Fabric at the Hips or Bust.
Usually, the hourglass body-shaped ladies have big bust and hips. You would like your busts to look smaller so that no one thinks of you as chubby. But if you wear the piece with extra fabric at the bust, it will make your chest wider, which will affect your looks.
You should always look to wear a dress that does not consist of fabric at the hips, busts, and even in the midsection. Wearing the tops that consist of less fabric at the chest area would be a sensible option.
Lesser fabric at the bust will make it look more attractive, and people will keep their eyes on the upper portion of your body instead of looking at your bigger tummy.
6- Select A-line Skirts
A-line skirts are perfect for highlighting the narrowest part of your waist and then flaring out over the hips and tummy. This style is versatile and works well for casual outings or more formal events.
A-line skirts and dresses are always useful no matter what body shape you have: and they effectively hide your tummy area. It’s a staple item that celebrates the hourglass shape in all its glory.
7- Avoid shapeless or too-tight clothes
It is important not to wear tight dresses when you have a big tummy. The tighter tops make your tummy more prominent and affect overall looks. This is why I suggest you wear loose tops that go over the tummy and make it hidden.
Loose dresses never mean that you should opt for loose tops. Ideally, you should keep the balance. Not too loose, neither too tight. In this way, you’ll be able to keep the balance, and will be able to successfully hide the tummy area.
8- Choose the Right Fabrics
The fabric of your clothing usually makes a big difference in how your body shape is perceived. Instead of choosing the rigid material, you should opt for a bit of stretchy one to ensure that it fits your body perfectly.
Such stretchy fabrics will hug your curves in the right places and skim over areas you might feel self-conscious about, like a bigger tummy. Avoid stiff fabrics that can add bulk and instead opt for softer, flowing materials.
Conclusion
